Authorities in Houston, Texas, are investigating after a Houston Methodist employee was stabbed inside a parking garage at the Texas Medical Center campus early Monday morning. The violent incident reportedly occurred at Garage 1 on Fannin Street, prompting a major police response and a temporary partial lockdown as officers searched for the suspect.
According to investigators, the stabbing was reported at approximately 6:47 a.m. on Level 5 of the parking garage. The victim, identified only as a Houston Methodist employee, was found inside her vehicle suffering stab wounds to the upper body area. She was transported to a nearby emergency department for treatment and was later reported to be in stable condition. Authorities also believe the employee may have been robbed during the attack.
Houston Police Department investigators, alongside Texas Medical Center police, immediately launched a search for the suspect, who was described as a Black man with a beard wearing a red or orange hoodie, black pants, and black sneakers. Surveillance images were reportedly circulated internally to hospital staff as investigators worked to determine whether the stabbing was random or targeted. Officials later stated there was no indication of an ongoing threat to the public after portions of the campus were temporarily secured.
The incident has deeply unsettled workers and visitors across the Texas Medical Center, one of the busiest healthcare districts in the country. Hospitals are supposed to be places where exhausted staff save lives while surviving impossible shifts fueled by caffeine and stubbornness, not places where employees fear being attacked on their way to work. Authorities continue reviewing surveillance footage and witness statements as the investigation remains active and the suspect has not yet been publicly identified.
